Hi!

Some clever engineer made a hands-free cookie dispenser for oreos. And then made a video about the process.

Enjoy!

I don’t know how I got the MasterClass ads, but they’re fun!

Hi!

I’m not sure what happened a couple nights ago, but I was on YouTube, and practically all the ads were actually interesting. They were for various Master Classes in music being offered.

I’m not sure whether it’s unfortunate that I have a tendency to listen to music in incognito mode so that YouTube doesn’t store my history… On the one hand, I don’t get ads for some really bizarre things that I accidentally find. On the other, if they do figure out my ad preferences, I don’t really get to keep those, either.

Ah well.

Have a great day!

A scare for Halloween

Hi!

I have a scary thought for you, given that Halloween is coming up.

October is almost over.

How did this happen? Where did the time go? Wasn’t it January just yesterday or something?

Anyway.

I hope you get over that soon… I probably won’t. Have a good one!

Signs it’s getting on towards fall!

Hi!

There are a few ways I can tell that it’s starting to get to be a bit Fall-ish.

a) My Google Ads are including fabric patterns. Because I’ve again been spending too much time on fabric.com. But, yeah.

2) I’ve been spending too much time looking at sewing patterns.

Yup, I want to do crafts around this time of year…

What about you?

When in doubt, make alternate goals!

Hi!

I’ve relatively recently gotten into playing chess with friends, online.

I’m not great at it. Like, really not great. But I have figured out a way to still have fun!

The trick?: Alternate. Goals.

Rather than playing to win per say (at least at the beginning), I’m just trying to work towards an alternate goal. For example, for one friend, I got really tired of his pawns. So, I unofficially dubbed myself “The Pawn Assassin”. I’m not saying I’d take destroying all his pawns over a checkmate, and I’m not actually disappointed that I won for the first time against him even though I was so close to actually obliterating much of his pawnage, but it certainly made it more fun for me. And similarly, I have another game going on right now where I think we’re both trying to avoid taking a piece. We’re more than ten moves in, and no pieces have been captured.

Again, this is a lot of fun. I still totally expect to lose, but who cares?

So, yep. When in doubt, change the game.

BUT DON’T TELL THEM WHAT YOU’RE DOING BECAUSE THEN THEY MIGHT ACCOUNT FOR IT AND PREVENT YOU FROM ACHIEVING YOUR GOAL.

Yup.

Anyway. Have a great day!
