What does “dirt cheap” even MEAN?

Hiya, Fluffsters!

Happy New Year’s Eve!

I realize that I kinda should be doing a more themed post, in honor of the holiday and all that. But I don’t really want to take the time right now to go through all my posts from this year and find my favorites. Sorry.

Also, there’s a thought that’s been in the back of my mind for a while. The thought of the meaning of “dirt cheap”. I mean, seriously.

Alright, so at first glance, it seems to make sense. After all, dirt is thought of as being findable basically anywhere. But what kind of dirt are we even talking about? And why is that commonly assumed?

Like, are we talking about dirt from Mars? If so, that stuff is EXPENSIVE. (Do we even have any yet?)

On a less grand scale, think about different locations. Like a beach setting. There’s sand everywhere, but not necessarily dirt. So, would the dirt really be cheap? Afterall, there are shipping fees involved with getting dirt to a sandy location. And then the amount of time it takes to incorporate dirt into the sand. And stuff.

So I guess that what I’m trying to say is that I don’t think it’s entirely fair to use the phrase “dirt cheap.” It’s inaccurate.

And besides, it might hurt the dirt’s feelings.

So, yeah. And again, happy New Year’s Eve!

I hope you have a lovely day and evening and holiday and stuff.

What If Star Wars Episode III was Good?

Greetings, readers!

Today’s post is the third in the “What if the Star Wars Prequels were actually Good” series. This one, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, only came out this month.

Again, the usual language warnings are in place.

Enjoy.

What If Star Wars II Was Good?

Greetings, readers!

Today’s fluff is a continuation of yesterday’s. The same person who developed a redesign of Star Wars I also created a “What If” for Episode II: Attack of the Clones. It, too, is well done. (Again, I do not recall what language warnings to give to this video.)

I hope you have a lovely day.

What If Star Wars I was good? (A Re-post)

Greetings, readers!

As you may recall from a bit more than two years ago, I shared a YouTube video that examines what retweaking might have made Star Wars I: Phantom Menace actually good. As a brief reminder, I do not recall exactly what language warnings may be required pertaining to the video. I simply recall that it is well worth highlighting again, especially as the new movie has come out, and it has not disappointed critics nearly as much as the prequels did.

So, enjoy.

Seasonal Songs: The Holly and the Ivy

Greetings, readers!

Technically, it may be a bit past the time when “Seasonal Music” is actually seasonal. However, it is still December, and some are fine with that. Thus, as there is another song I would like to share with you, I am going to do so. This one is “The Holly and the Ivy”. It is another traditional one. It is a lovely piece, and I hope you enjoy it.

Seasonal Songs: “Christmastime”

Hiya, Fluffsters!

Happy “Day after Christmas”!

I’m realizing there’s a less-commonly heard song in Churches stores and stuff that I totally forgot to slip into this series earlier, so I’m including it even though it’s a Christmas song and it’s no longer before Christmas. And sorry for that run-on sentence.

Anyway. I like this one primarily because the background singers (after you get to where the song actually starts, which is about two minutes in) sound a bit like bells. It’s kinda like carol of the bells, except that it’s not as commonly done and stuff.

Although the song itself is known as “Christmastime”, I think of it as “Ring Christmas Bells.” So, yeah.

Anyway. Have a lovely Saturday!

Seasonal Music: Fum Fum Fum

Merry Christmas, readers!

I hope you have a lovely holiday.

In honor of Christmas, I found a very nice arrangement of another Christmas song, in a version that I had not previously encountered. It is a version of “Fum Fum Fum”.

I hope you enjoy it.

Seasonal Songs: How Great our Joy

Greetings, readers!

I had almost forgotten about this favorite Christmas Carol of mine: “How Great Our Joy”. This version I am sharing with you is another Cambridge Singers version. It alas ends with a major chord instead of in the key that the rest of the song is in. However, it is one of the better tone qualities around, and thus I am sharing this version. I hope you enjoy.

Have a lovely Christmas Eve!

Seasonal Songs: “Green Chri$tma$”

Hiya, Fluffsters!

So this one I think qualifies more as “social commentary” than “Christmas Music”, but it’s still seasonal. And it has some music. So, yeah. I’m sharing it. Tough, live with it.

And have a lovely Tuesday!
