Fun Webcomic Procrastinant

Hiya, Fluffsters!

I kinda-sorta-accidentally started reading Order of the Stick yesterday, per the recommendation of some friends. And it’s fantastic. (At least so far. And no, I am not going to say how far into it I’ve gotten…) It is a D & D based webcomic. I thought it started getting very amusing at about comic number 3.

If you have time, and if you are into RPGs, you should totally check it out.

Have fun!

Pittsburgh seems a bit… different.

Hiya, Fluffsters!

It seems to me that Pittsburgh does things a bit odd. This is thought comes because of a link about a particular feature of (some) homes in Pittsburgh. (A friend shared the link.)

You should check it out. It discusses not only the homes, but also some other peculiarities.

Yup.

Have a great day!

Wall Textures

Hiya, Fluffsters!

In the category of “about-as-interesting-as-watching-wet-paint-dry”, I’ve been staring at my wall for the past while, trying to think of a topic for this fluff. So naturally, it’s becoming the topic. You see, the wall is textured. And I realized, I don’t understand why some walls get textured and others don’t. More to the point, who originally created these things? Like, “let’s have a wall that looks like a cluster of mutant tree fungi got whitewashed!”. Ok, slight exaggeration. But next time you look at a Spackled Wall, just try telling me that it doesn’t look like something was growing on the wall. Something that shouldn’t have been there.

And on that note, have a good day!

How to Have a Conversation

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hiya, Fluffsters!

As you may have noticed, one of the things I like to do is talk. And interact with people. I like conversing.

Sometimes, though, it seems as though people don’t know how to carry on a conversation. So I have some tips for you today!

1) Listen. Or pay attention to what the other person is saying. This is one of the more common tips. This brings us to point 0.

0) Know how to ask questions. If you don’t ask questions, or guide the conversation in any way, you might be stuck with the annoying awkward silences. This is also a way to start conversations.

So assuming you’ve gotten through points 0 and 1, which help with the starting the conversation and stuff, here are some tips for keeping a conversation going.

2) Ask follow-up questions. Is your chatting-buddy doing something interesting in her life? Has she said that she’s going to be writing a paper soon? Ask her what it’s about! (Unless it’s obvious… You know, pay attention.) Has he said he’ll be going home for the summer? Ask if he has any plans in mind! It’s not that difficult… sometimes.

3) Turn-the-question. If you’ve been answering a question that can be turned around to ask your chatting-buddy, do so! Have you been answering “what plans do you have for Memorial Day?” Ask him back!

And with those simple steps, you should be able to keep the conversation going for at least 10 seconds.

Have fun conversing!

Names are weird

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hiya, Fluffsters!

Have you stopped to think recently about how weird names and usernames are? I mean, it’s a single word that brings someone to mind. It’s kinda like a description. Except not really. Because even though names like “Tiffany” might bring a particular type of person to mind, there are differences among people. Also, these days (most) given names are chosen before much of anything is known about the person’s characteristics.

And then usernames are especially weird. Because those are self-selected. And therefore one can choose how to describe onesself.

Yup.

Happy Sunday!
