Star Trek: Beyond – A (mostly) Spoiler Free Review

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hi!

Yesterday, I got to see the new Star Trek movie. (Star Trek: Beyond.) I really enjoyed it. A lot. It started well, continued well, and ended well.

Even “beyond” that, their visuals were stunning. The end credits, for instance, had a gorgeous “fly through” of various nebulae and other types of space-y things.

And the Enterprise!

I originally came to the original movies from having been raised with… more advanced graphics than the original series used. And some slightly slicker designs of space-craft, etc. So, I never understood why there were often multiple minutes devoted to showing off the 70s and 80s Starship Enterprise.

After this movie, I get it.

They used modern, 21st century tech CG / special effects to create an Enterprise that looked not only futuristic, but also beautiful. Similarly, the representation of Warp was really cool. They may have only spent a few seconds on showing off the beauty of the 21st century Enterprise, but every shot was amazing. Also, the Instigating Plot Event was beautifully represented (in terms of visualizations). And so were the aliens. There were a few non-humanoid aliens. It was just really cool seeing the detail of the world.

I recommend going to this movie, to see and experience it. It’s worth the Big Screen.

Have a lovely day!

Tips for “The True Love”- A Companion to the Evil Overlord List

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Greetings, readers!

I recently discovered a rather amusing list, that seems reminiscent of the “Evil Overlord” list. Instead of tips for the villain, however, it is tips for the poor soul who gets the role of “true love” of the story.

As with the Evil Overlord list, the items listed are in response to frequently used plot devices that seem a bit… fixable.

Enjoy.

Very nicely done Spoiler Free Teaser Trailer for a parody

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Greetings, readers!

As you may recall, there is a YouTube channel that the Webmaster is moderately obsessed with: The Hillywood Show.

They do high quality performance art, so I also have been watching their recent creations with interest.

The new one (in a manner of speaking; it is not a full production) is a trailer for the parody they are in the process of making.

Here are two of the things I appreciated about it:

  1. It is spoiler free. I was almost hesitant to watch the trailer, except for the fact that, from what I can tell, the Hillywood Sisters are extremely proficient at not “spoiling” any of their work. As the parodies are generally fairly short, however, providing a trailer without spoilers takes tremendous talent. Even the “reveal” that there is, in fact, a Sherlock (which everybody expected for a Sherlock parody), it is not obvious who plays the role.
  2. It still shows incredible attention to detail. I am guessing the papers shown in the parody were prop-pieces used in the parody itself, and not simply taken from footage of the show itself. Of course, the wording of the texts at the end was perfect. What highlights some of the sound detailing, however, is the identical texting sound indicator used in the trailer.

I am very much looking forward to seeing what the final product will be. The shown costuming, props, and sound effects thus far indicate a continued attention to precise detail that (to an extent) defines the Hillywood Style.

Have a lovely weekend.

PSA: Comfy Chairs Are Comfy

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

This is a public service announcement. You should not, repeat should not be alarmed.

There are these entities known as “comfy chairs”. They are chairs, that you sit in, and relax in. They are comfy. I am in one of the comfy chairs right now. If not kept on guard, you could find that they are too comfortable. Some side effects may include 1) gushing about comfy chairs, 2) prolonged sitting, and 3) losing track of what you were sayi…

A lovely way to start a day

Hi!

Yesterday, my morning started in basically the best way possible. Somebody’s dog in the apartment complex I’m at for now came over and excitedly said hello. The lovely pup was a medium sized dog, so not big enough to knock me off balance or anything, but large enough to reach easily to pet.

And I didn’t need to take care of cleaning up after the pretty that morning. (I’m guessing that’s why the dog was out.)

Yep. I rather like where I am.

Have a lovely day!

ANOTHER SDCC trailer: Fantastic Beasts!

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Ok, I admit it. Right now I’m definitely really appreciating the San Diego Comic Con. It’s providing a lot of easy, reasonable content for this blog. Hooray for not needing to work hard!

Yep. Anyway. There’s another very worthwhile trailer that debuted at SDCC just a couple days ago: A new trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

It looks pretty… “fantastic!”

Anyway, have a lovely Tuesday!

Another Benedict Cumberbatch SDCC trailer: SHERLOCK!!

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

So, this last post and this one maaay indicate that I’m something of a Benedict Cumberbatch fan.

The fact that I can spell his name without looking it up might be another indicator…

Anyway. San Diego Comic Con did it again yesterday. There’s a NEW SHERLOCK TRAILER, AND IT ALSO LOOKS FANTASTIC.

I hope that started your Monday reasonably well!

Benedict Cumberbatch is bending reality again.

I think I officially have a love/hate relationship with San Diego ComiCon. On the one hand, I hate it because there is practically no way I anticipate being able to go anytime in this next decade or three. On the other hand, THERE IS SO MUCH AWESOME STUFF THAT GETS DEBUTED THERE!!

For instance, THERE’S A NEW DOCTOR STRANGE TRAILER, AND IT LOOKS FANTASTIC.

I mean, seriously. Benedict Cumberbatch. It’s not good enough that he’s got an amazing name, plays an incredibly popular “high functioning sociopath” who can basically read through reality, plays a dragon, and is generally fantastic in general… he now gets to play a wizard who bends reality.

And there’s an awesome swoosh-cape.

So, yeah. The trailer made me happy.

Hve a lovely day!

ANOTHER post from the Sister Site?! — recipe

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hi!

So, The Student over at the cooking site has been really prolific in the posting recently. As in, there’s another post up today.

This one is actually a recipe, though. For a vegetable pasta dish thing. So, it’s not just discussion of cast-iron.

In fact, I don’t see the new skillet mentioned even once in the new post.

Yay?

Anyway. Have a lovely weekend! Maybe do some cooking or something.
