Internet Spazz = Bad Post

Hi, Fluffsters!

How’s this for dedication- the internet is being Spazzy where this site is concerned, so I’m writing this on my PHONE to make sure you have your daily fluff.

The sad thing is, I had a couple of good ideas for a post, too. Oh well.

In the meantime, so that you’re not stuck with just a whiny post instead of your usual fluff, here’s a thought provoking question for you: How did the term “fluff” first come about? Was it because somebody fell into a vat of fluffy stuff, and that’s the sound they made upon impact? Does it just sound a bit like a cute-ified version of “love”, in which case fluff and love would be linked somehow? Or something completely different?

I’d love to see your thoughts in the comments below!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Science

Hiya, Fluffsters!

Today’s another Saturday. Yay! So, this means you might have time on your hands.

In many places, it is also fall. That means that cooking is a funner pass-time.

So, here’s an article about baking “the perfect” chocolate chip cookies. (Actually, it just has information on how to change your chocolate chip cookies to achieve different things. Like chewierness. It’s still useful, though.)

Have fun baking!

New Side Blog!

Hello, Fluffsters!

I am happy to announce that starting today, there is another blog that is a part of this website! The blog is devoted to a grad-student’s struggle for survival, in the realm of cooking. So, cooking on a budget. The website is currently called “Grad Grants and Great Grub“, and is found at cooking.totalfluff.com. Because this is a new website in the TotalFluff domain, when there are interesting updates on that blog (which probably won’t be every day), I’ll be using those as the fluff of the day. (Tough. Live with it. 🙂 )

I hope you enjoy! (And if you do, share it with your friends! The author would like to get word out about the blog.)

Happy Wednesday!

Cheese, Periodically

Hi, Fluffsters!

In part because of an epic dinner I had tonight (Kraft Mac & Cheese in a BACON BOWL!!)…

Kraft Macaroni & Cheese in a bowl made of bacon. On a pretty floral plate.

Kraft Mac & Cheese and BACON BOWL. Be jealous. 🙂

…I’m feeling a bit cheesy.

So, I’m going to share with you a beautiful image that a friend of mine shared the link to: A Periodic Table of Cheese.

Have fun!

Hiya Fluffsters!

I come to you today slightly… disturbed. Some people removed the soundtrack from the “Star Wars: A New Hope” throne room award ceremony scene, and it is bizarre.

Personally, I think they went a little overboard on the sounds they got rid of, since the R2 & 3PO noises are reasonably expected to be there even if music is not, but that’s ok. It probably wouldn’t have saved the clip from being weird, after all.

And on that odd note (so to speak), I hope your week goes well!

Tying Shoes: Not as Simple as we Thought

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hiya, Fluffsters! Happy Saturday!

So. I just found out that I’ve been tying my shoes wrong. (When I wear shoes with laces, that is. Normally I like my flats. They have bows on the toes.)

But I digress.

Right. Shoes. Tying wrong. Yeah. There’s a TED Talk that discusses it, and shows the right way to tie shoes. You should watch it! (Don’t worry, it’s only about 3 minutes long. You’ve got time. Anyways, it’s a Saturday!)

Yup.

So, happy Saturday! I hope you have a great one!

AMAZINGLY Adorable Hamster Video!!

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hi, Fluffsters!

I’m not sure if you’ve seen this one yet, but I just encountered an absolutely darling hamster video: Tiny Hamster eating Tiny Burritos.

I mean, wasn’t that just so darling? There was a story told in just about a minute. And you can see that story. A chef wants to make his (probably picky) critic/customer happy. The customer just happens to be a tiny hamster.

So what you are saying is that it is a reverse of Ratatouille?

…Now that you mention it, yes!

So it’s still cute.

(And for those of you who are concerned about the hamster, don’t worry. The fillings were actually hamster-safe things, not the food shown being chopped up at the beginning.)

Have a great day!

An old friend, but a nice friend to have around- Tacky

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hi, Fluffsters!

Today I’m going way, way back in my discussion of “old friend” books, back to my early childhood before I could read.

Even though I couldn’t read, my parents were avid readers and made sure to read a lot to me.

One of my favorite young-person serieses was Tacky the Penguin.

This absolutely adorable children’s story tells the tale of Tacky the penguin and his fellow companions. His companions (Goodly, Lovely, Angel, Neatly, and Perfect) are “normal” penguins. He’s an odd bird.

The story is a typical children’s picture-book- one picture per sentence, basically. The art is delightfully done, and the story is sweet.

I don’t remember the first time my Dad read it out loud to me, but I’m fairly sure it was right around my birthday. From the first reading, I fell in love with it. It’s cute, sweet, humorous, and has a good message. What more can you ask for?

Even now, the book is a beloved one of mine. Yes, it’s an “old friend” primarily because I’ve known it for a long time. But it is also simply endearing, and well worth a read. Even by adults.

If you can, I highly encourage you to find this book. It’s a friendly, five minute read, and worthy of becoming an “old friend.”
