Pirates 5 music had some fun

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hello!

So. I finally ended up watching Pirates 5. And it had its moments.

One of the highlights for me was, of course, the soundtrack. In particular, back when Captain Jack is (finally) back to being a Pirate, the theme playing is the “Pirate Unity Theme Song” from Pirates 3.

I like continuity like that!

(Alas, no Plainchant references in this film. But, still not bad.)

What about you? Are there things you really like in a soundtrack?

Dramatic description of a Box

Hi!

I was recently looking at miscellaneousness online. (Which I’m sure comes as a total shock to you.) And I recently encountered a publisher’s description… of a box.

And not just an actual box– the very concept of a box. Did you know that any box is “Possibility itself”?

I didn’t.

I found it kindof amusing.

Enjoy!

I love training ads…

Hi!

I’ve been randomly procrastinating either by looking at fabric online, or by looking up pretzel recipes. (Using Google Chrome. So yes, they’re probably keeping track of my soul to sell. But at least my ads are somewhat more relevant!)

I knew from previous experience that looking at fabric.com gets me fabric.com ads. (Which is really nice. Fun fabrics for the win!)

I did not realize, however, that pretzels might have their own demographics… until last night.

Yup! I’m starting to get PRETZEL ads, too!

Isn’t technology cool?

I do not entirely understand…

What?

You report some of the more… wild… conspiracy theories I have encountered, and yet you happily accept this type of invasiveness?

…Yes?

I mean, at least they’re up front about it!

Anyway. Have a lovely Friday!

Charming Read for Writers

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hi!

Somebody on Facebook shared a lovely analysis article thingy about similarities between things authors face, and things contestants on the Great British Bake-Off face.

It’s a nicely written piece (as you’d hope, given that the writer is talking about being a writer) and inspiring for pretty much any type of job/vocation/whatever where you’re required to be even moderately creative. Or persistent. Or proficient. Or, well, anything.

(As a head’s up, there’s a single instance of “language.”)

Happy reading, writing, and whatever-ing!

Action Figures Trying WAAAY too hard to avoid lawsuits

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hi!

So. It turns out, it’s not just sewing patterns that try waaaaay too hard to avoid lawsuits. Action figures do it, too. As demonstrated by the Action Figure Playset of “80’s Kids Who Are Way Too Laidback About Traveling To Other Dimensions To Fight Flappy-Faced Monsters“. (Warning: may contain slight spoilers for Stranger Things. Or, it might not. They don’t actually mention the show by name, of course, so you can’t really know!)

Or, there’s also the “worst ‘bring your kid to work day ever’ Play Set“. Which is totally not a Star Wars VI action set.

Have a lovely day!

Cups vs Cups vs Cups

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hi!

Did you know there are a lot of different kinds of cups? And lots of different kinds of cups… that relate just to coffee? (And I’m not even talking just about pretty pictures you can have on a cup.

Nope. I’m talking about the measurement side of things.

First, you’ve got your traditional 8 oz cup measure. Measurement. Whatever.

Then, you’ve got your “Cup of Stuff” measure. That will take the size of the mug. And those can be anywhere from tiny to 20+ ounces!

Finally, it turns out there’s a “standard cup of coffee” measure, of 5 ozs. This can get really irritating, since some coffee makers actually use this measure to tell you how many cups of coffee it makes.

Needless to say, it’s important to keep these measures straight. You probably shouldn’t use a 20 oz mug to measure a cup of flour, for example.

Have fun with the measuring!

Fun Facts about Five!

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hello!

Fun fact: Five is one of my favorite numbers.

There are several reasons for that.

5.a) It’s a prime number. And primes are just fun. They’re distinctive, and they stand on their own.

5.ii) It’s never overpowered. Take any number. Multiply it by 5. There’s a 50% chance it ends in a 5, too! The only other number to not get overpowered like that is 10. And 10’s–you guessed it!– a multiple of 5! (Ok. So, even numbers won’t actually end up with a 5 in them if you multiply them by 5. But, whatever.)

5.third) It’s easy to identify a multiple of 5. (When in base 10.) Does it end in 0? It’s a multiple of 5! Does it end in 5? You BET it’s a multiple of 5! Seriously. 5 and 2 are the only numbers where if it ends in that number, you know it’s divisible by that number. How fun is that?

5.penultimate) 5 years can be weird. Despite the fact that 5 *365 = 1825, there have been 1826 days since five years ago, due to leap years and such.

5.5… TOTAL FLUFF IS CELEBRATING 5 YEARS OF DAILY POSTS!

Yup. 5 years ago today, the first post was posted.

Since then, there have been other random posts. So, in no particular order, here are about 5 posts that have happened over the past five years!

1. Did you remember that New Zealand tried to ban pet cats? I’d certainly forgotten until just now.

2. There’s a nice list of potential alternate activities for Superbowl Night. Given that that’s going to be relevant again, you might want to look at it!

3. Fluffy made a great post about Pi Day for The Epic Pi Day.

4. Fluffy also shared information about how many of anything with caffeine you need to have before it’s lethal.

5. And, I pointed out the danger of words.

With all that, happy five years! Thank you for reading!

Amusing use for rubber ducks

Hi!

I realize I may have done you a disservice the other day, with my title about ducks belonging on the head. You see, that’s really not the only thing they’re good for.

James Veitch, a fun YouTube personality, provides a nice demonstration of other uses.

Enjoy!

5 Bobby Pins.

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hi!

So. I’ve recently learned something: I need five bobby-pins for my normal hair style. (French bun.)

Exactly five.

I somehow or another missed one the other day, and it kept coming down. And 5 does work. Consistently. So, I clearly don’t need six.

Yup.

I have no clue why.

Have a lovely day!
