Star Wars 7 Geeking Out — Trailer 3 Music (again)

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hiya, Fluffsters!

Remember my points about how the music was part of what made the Star Wars 7 theatrical trailer so amazing? Well, the Nerdist has an article up that includes the trailer with just the music.

Alas, it doesn’t include the sound effects, which really make the trailer “pop” (so to speak…), but it still so clearly demonstrates how well Disney matched the music to the scenes. Isn’t it cool?

Anyway, have a lovely Monday!

Star Wars 7 Geeking Out — Old Trilogy Edition

Hiya, Fluffsters!

So, I know that my post title looks a bit contradictory, but it’s not. I promise. You see, the Nerdist shared a lovely trailer for the old trilogy, done with the same music and in the same style as the new Star Wars 7 theatrical trailer.

It is quite nicely done. And you can compare the new one to the original at the bottom of the Nerdist article. And seriously, the original trailer for the original Star Wars (before it was “A New Hope”) is quite remarkable as a sign of its time…

Anyway. Happy Sunday!

More Star Wars 7 Geeking Out: BB8

Hiya, Fluffsters!

As you’re aware, I’m a total Star Wars Geeky Nerdy Person. I’m REALLY looking forward to the new movie coming out! (Please, Disney– don’t mess this up!)

Anyway, a little bit ago, I caught myself thinking about the new droid, BB8. Specifically, I was wondering why that design. It doesn’t seem like it’s particularly more efficient.

Then, it occurred to me. If movie makers make things because they look cool (and are functional), why couldn’t a different universe do the same thing?

So, yeah. I have no clue about the science behind BB8. But even if it doesn’t make sense, it’s still perfectly fine.

Have a lovely Saturday!

I made another fake window!

Hiya, Fluffsters!

So, I made another fake window yesterday in photoshop. This time using a slightly different process. (At the very least, I didn’t put a framed ‘picture’ in my ‘window’. It’s just the ‘window.’)

And I’m happy with how it turned out.

Have a lovely Friday!

Purple Mountains

Hiya, Fluffsters!

So, another picture for you today. I took it yesterday morning, when I looked over and the mountains legitimately were purple. I sometimes forget that happens in real life, not just song!

Have a lovely Wednesday!

And people say CA doesn’t get fall.

Hiya, Fluffsters!

So, for those of you who don’t know, I’m back in California for a while.

And it’s finally Fall out here.

Now, some of you may have heard that CA doesn’t get fall colors. Well, I have definitive proof that that is not so!

See?

Signs of CA fall.

LOOK AT THAT FALL FOLIAGE!!! 😀

As I said, proof that California gets fall: It has fallen leaf/leaves!

Anyway. Happy Fall! I hope you’re having at least as colorful a one as California gets.

My Costume(s) Were Successful

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hiya, Fluffsters!

On both Friday and Saturday, I (somewhat) celebrated Halloween by giving out candy and wearing a costume.

Friday, I dressed as an undercover spy.

Saturday, (yesterday) I was a time-traveler who was trying to blend in.

I got no comments on my outfits, so I must have dressed successfully. It made me happy.

Have a lovely day! And happy November!

Scarily Appropriate Halloween Decorations

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hiya, Fluffsters!

So, I was at a Costco store recently.

They already had Christmas stuff up. Or so I thought. It was a slightly terrifying experience.

And then I realized that it was actually the perfect Halloween decorations.

You see, they make us think they’re decorating for Christmas, when really they’re using an obscure math joke. From what I understand, in math, there are different “bases” for counting things. (Fluffy made a post about that for why we should use binary to count with our fingers.) Anyway, one of those bases is base 8. It’s referred to as Octal. Our normal base is base 10, or decimal. They get shortened to Dec and Oct, sometimes.

(Don’t those abbreviations look familiar…?)

Anyway, it turns out that 25 in base 10 is the same thing as 31 in base 8. In other words, oct 31 = dec 25. So therefore apparently Halloween is Christmas.

And furthermore, that means that Costco was being extra terrifying in its Halloween decorations by making us think a) it was going over-the-top consumer-focused to the point of starting Christmas decorations and sales a full two months early, or 2) making us think of math (and puns) in order to understand what they were actually doing.

Well played, Costco.

I hope you have a happy Halloween!

How Negative Time Works

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hiya, Fluffsters!

I don’t know about you, but I’m living on Negative Time recently.

I am not entirely sure which part of that sentence is worse: Your grammar, the term “Negative Time”, or the capitalization of “Negative Time”.

…I can understand being confused by terminology, but what’s your problem with my grammar?

Webmaster, you mixed present and past tenses. That is problematic. And annoying to read.

Huh. I guess I did. Oh well.

The Negative Time itself should be what concerns you, actually.

Basically, it means that I’ve got more to do than I’ve got time to do, so I’m already needing to choose what necessary/important things I’m not going to do, and therefore ending up procrastinating and not doing (basically) any of it.

Compared to that, neither my grammar nor the terminology should be worrisome.

(And besides, the Capitalization of Negative Time could probably be lumped in with the grammar.)

Anyway.

Have a lovely Thursday!
