Things to do on a First Day (part 2)

Hiya, Fluffsters!

I’m continuing the series of “things to do on a first day.”

Today’s tip is another one that should be generally applicable. And that is:

Show up.

Because whenever other people are involved (alas), it is definitionally the First Day. So not showing up doesn’t actually postpone the First Day to a later date. So, you really may as well show up and make the most of it.

Have a lovely Wednesday!

Things to do on a First Day (part 1)

Hiya, Fluffsters!

So, a number of people will be starting school up again. And so, I thought I’d go through some nice, general tips (or at least a tip) for things to do or not do on first days. Hopefully these tips will be applicable for more than just a single group.

Tip 1: Wear Clothes.

I cannot recommend this enough. It is very important that you wear clothes on your first day in a new social setting, especially if it pertains to normal social frameworks and stuff.

After all, garbage bags just don’t look right.

Good luck!

When you’re dead, take a bottle of seeds with you.

Hiya, Fluffsters!

So, it seems as though some archaeologists have planted a seed they found in a tomb or a different old place or something, and it ended up producing an instance of a (formerly) dead type of tree species.

My takeaway here is that everyone should put in their wills that a bottle of seeds that can be planted from their favorite plant should be buried with them. That way, you can guess that millennia in the future, your type of favorite tree will make the headlines.

It’s kinda like becoming a celebrity, only not, and you’re deader.

Have a lovely Monday!

Minas Tirith might become real!!!

Hiya, Fluffsters!

So, this is (so far) being a fantastic week for the Fantasy-Aficionado in me. First, I found out that Muggle equivalents of Wizards Tents are real. Then, the day after that, I found out that some architects are… trying to build a life-sized Minas Tirith.

I really hope it gets funded, and that I can visit it at some point!!

Have a lovely weekend!

Something that pleased me today

Greetings, readers!

Today, I ran an experiment on a search engine. I have seen the Joss Whedon show “Firefly”, and for some reason the word “Saffron” came to mind. Thus, the character “Saffron” came to mind, but I could not remember the weird mash-up Captain Mal calls her. I remembered it started with “Yosaf”, so I started entering that into the search engine. The engine provided, and brought “Yosaffbridge” as the first suggestion.

I found that pleasing.

I hope you have a great day.

I had a very weird dream two nights ago.

Hiya, Fluffsters!

So, I woke up from a dream last night that convinced me that Dream Me is a bit… weird. I don’t remember that much about the dream. But I do remember that towards the end of it, I was ordering coffee. And I requested extra… cheese. Extra cheese for my coffee. As in, as though I were ordering a pizza.

Fortunately, the barista was saner than I, and handed me a mug of cheese without coffee in it. And then I realized how weird my request was, and I ordered a cup of coffee to go with my mug full of shredded mozzarella.

I then got the “cinnamon coffee-cake” flavored coffee, which was extremely disappointing. (Even in my dreams, I don’t like “naturally flavored” coffee, I guess) and so I (finally) ordered just my regular coffee, with a bit of half-and-half.

My alarm then went off before I was able to try that round of coffee. I’m sure it was better than either the (very disappointing) cinnamon-coffee-cake-coffee, or than cheesy coffee would have been.

Anyway, have a great day!

Habits from Browser Silliness

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hiya, Fluffsters!

Web browsers can be rather silly sometimes. In fact, they can be silly to the point of needing to develop new habits to get around their silliness.

Take Chrome, for instance. That’s one of my primary browsers. (I’ve had bad luck getting Firefox to work at efficient speeds. Hence, my use of Chrome.)

But one of the things with Chrome is that it learns history and anticipates URLs really fast.

(Yes, that’s normally a good thing.)

In some cases, however, it’s not. You see, I (of course) use Google as my default search engine. And I like being able to press “g+tab” in the URL to pull up a google search. But I also read the comic “Girl Genius.”

If I’m not careful, then Girl Genius becomes my automatic first link suggestion when I type “g” into the browser.

So I’ve started reading Girl Genius in my incognito/private browser. That way, it doesn’t record the history, and therefore doesn’t teach the browser to pull up something other than Google for my first suggestion after typing “g”.

It’s kinda silly how much the browser has shaped my internet habits…

Have a great Monday!
