New Relatively Pointless Song is likely to go Viral

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Greetings, readers!

It appears that the Webmaster originally scheduled something about Twitter for today. It can wait.

You see, there is a new song out. It has the potential of going viral at any point in time. It is already receiving publicity from multiple relatively unrelated groups.

The song in question is by Carly Rae Jepson, the creator of “Call Me, Maybe”. Her new song is called “I Really Like You.”

I have a few comments about it, of course.

The first deals with timing. I find it interesting that Carly Rae Jepson released this one in… March. February, after all, is the month of “love.” February 14 would have made a bit more sense for “I really like you” to be released, from a thematic perspective. However, since this song is still being picked up, and is likely only going to gain in popularity, it should not be much of an issue.

This does lead me to my second point, however.

I found it very interesting that the singer acknowledges that she does not “love” the person she is singing about, but instead “really (really … really) like you [the object of the singer’s affection.]”

As per usual with popular songs that go viral, it has a catchy tune. It also does not have much in the way of depth to its content.

Needless to say, “I Really Like You” by Carly Rae Jepson is not my favorite song, but it qualifies as a fluff of the day.

I hope you have a great week.

Lindsey Stirling- Dragon Age Video

Greetings, readers!

I am pleased to inform you that Lindsey Stirling has posted another video. I am approximately a week late to the show (so to speak), but here it is.

Although I am unaware of what “Dragon Age” is, and I was not as taken by the “plot” or music itself for this one, I found the special effects to be quite impressive. It is not every day you see a unique case of a dancing violinist fighting a dragon, even in my world.

I hope you have a great day!

Greetings, readers!

I was originally going to do another “Whovian Halloween” post, but I am postponing it by a day.

I see what you did there.

…What do you mean?

“Post”-poning your post?

I assure you, that was unintentional.

Regardless, the reason my post has been delayed is that there is a new video by Lindsey Stirling up on YouTube.

In fact, it was only released two days ago!

I generally enjoy her music (with a few rare exceptions), and I enjoyed this one. One of the things I liked about the movie is the story it tells. For there is definitely a story being told.

It is also rather remarkable how in less than four minutes, the creators of this movie were able to make an entirely new universe.

In fact, this is a universe that it might be interesting to read some stories in.

What do you think, readers?

Impressive Sounding Music: Game of Thrones Cover

Greetings, readers!

I recently encountered an interesting piece of music today: a low brass “cover” of the Game of Thrones opener.

I have not as of yet read the Game of Thrones or seen any of the show. However, the music is excellent. The low from this cover makes it even more worth listening to.

Enjoy the sheer power of it!

Happy Monday.

Amazing Music Performance Video

Hi, Fluffsters! Happy Sunday!

So. Somebody on Facebook shared a very amusing link.

Wow. what a shocker.

I know, right?

But they did! This link was a video of an instrumental music video thingy. It’s worth looking at. You should watch it.

Have you watched it yet?

It’s ok, I’ll wait.

So, are you back? Wasn’t it amusing?

I thought it was kindof like a “battle of the bands” thing, except that it was with instruments from a quartet.

I also thought it was quite funny.

What did you think?

New Piano Guys Music Video

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hi, Fluffsters! Happy Thursday!

I know that I’ve shared some of the Piano Guys’ epic music-ness before, but it’s because they are worth it.

And their new one? It’s a lovely piece: A wintery themed one.

Oh, yes! I love that one.

…Really?

Yes.

It is very artfully done. I like how it incorporates segments of Vivaldi’s Winter, from his Four Seasons!

For those of you who might not be as familiar with it, here is a recording of it. Only first three minutes or so of this piece are particularly obvious in the Piano Guys’ piece.

Yeah, it’s cool how they tie it in with the “Let it Go” theme from Frozen!

If there’s anyone out there who hasn’t seen that segment from the movie, here’s the official full scene, which Disney itself released! (At least, I think it’s the official version. It’s sometimes a bit hard to tell…)

Well, now that you know about the major pieces incorporated in the Piano Guys’ new piece, here’s their actual piece!

I hope you enjoyed, and I hope the rest of your week goes well!

Russian Music Is Awesome

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hello, Fluffsters! Happy Saturday!

So, I’m really excited about the Winter Olympics. And they’re happening in Sochi, Russia! I’m expecting to be very musically pleased for the next while.

…I am guessing that you enjoy Russian music?

That puts in mildly. So much Russian music is just so delightfully dark and somber!

Sarcasm?

Actually, no. The music genuinely is. I mean, this (I think) is their national anthem:

Yes, it has its positive, upbeat moments. But at least half of it is grand, serious, and in a minor key. The version at the Olympics opening ceremony was even better, from what I could tell from broadcasts. After all there are no basses like Russian basses.

Here’s a video I found of singers in St. Basil’s cathedral. My apologies for the low quality of the sound and footage, but it was one of the better versions I could find.

Those are a bit… dark.

I know, right? And the Soviet era certainly wasn’t “better”. After all, one of their army’s marching songs was this:

Polyushka Polye: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXE-m_yPH_s

And with their history, and given that they invented Tetris, I guess this movie also makes sense both musically and in other ways.

Seriously, isn’t that just so delightfully Russian?

Anywho, do you have any favorite Russian pieces? I also enjoy classical pieces. (Firebird is one of my favorites. Ask me about that sometime, by the way- there’s some fun with that piece of music, too.) Well, I hope you have a great weekend!

Weird Christmas Music I Heard Yesterday

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hello, Fluffsters! Happy Monday!

Yesterday, I heard one of the weirdest pieces of Christmas music. Ever.

Rather, the weirdest version of a Christmas song I’ve heard in a very long time. It was a version of “I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus.”

Now, I understand what this song’s about. The kid sees his mom kissing his dad, but the dad’s dressed up as Santa without the kid realizing this.

The version that I heard made it very clear that the kid had no idea what was going on. He had a mournful, naive tone to his voice. But what made it really bad was the chorus. There was a slow, fairly mournful chorus of older-sounding folks singing backup. The combined effect made the song seem a bit like a funeral dirge.

As I said, weirdest variation on a Christmas song that I’ve heard. At least as far as I can recall.

Well, have a great week!

Epic Violin & Cello Music

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hello, Fluffsters!

Have you ever heard of the Piano Guys? Or Lindsey Stirling? If you have, you’re in for a treat. If not, you’re still in for a treat.

The Piano Guys are probably the best pianists / cellists I know of. They make lots of YouTube videos and variations on popular (and classical) music and stuff. They’re amazing and I highly recommend anything they do. With very minimal restrictions on that.

Lindsey Stirling is another very popular YouTube musician. She does very impressive videos, and plays the violin amazingly well. Her videos normally tell some sort of story, or illustrate things from the video games / movies / stories she’s taken her variations from the music on. (Did that sentence even make sense?)

Well, back to my current topic. These two sensations have teamed up, and they’ve created a Mission Impossible themed music video. Not only is the music a lot of fun (who doesn’t like the MI theme music?) but it also shows a very fun story. It starts off with Her getting a mission, and it goes on from there. I highly recommend watching it.

I think one of my favorite parts is that the video managed to work in most of the most famous elements from the Mission Impossible series. (Spoiler alerts.) There’s a person dropping from the ceiling without being seen, there’s a face-removal, and there’s a ridiculously complicated laser obstacle course they need to get through.

In other words, I really enjoyed this video. Have a great Thursday, and a wonderful rest of your week!

Rainbows’ Minions: Music

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Fluffsters, we’ve got a problem.

Don’t tell me. This has something to do with your Rainbow Conspiracy…

What gave it away?

Uh, the title?

Oh. Right. Well, yes in fact! This does have to do with the rainbows.

More to the point, it has to do with the Rainbows’ hired minions: –

-Music?

You’re good!

…That’s also in the title.

Oh. Right. But yes. I have recently discovered that Rainbows probably use various pieces of music as minions. Not all music, but some pieces.

I mean, think about it. I’ve already written about how music can pop into your head at any time, and refuses to leave. I’ve referred to those as ear bugs.

Now think further about this: Some music consistently enters your mind when you see certain things or hear certain words. At least, it does for me.

Here’s an example: There’s a campfire ditty I learned. The lyrics are simple: “I see the moon//the moon sees me// the moon sees the one// I want to see. //God bless the moon// and God bless me,// and God bless the one// I want to see.” And now, whenever anyone says “I see the moon”, that little piece of music pops into my head. It’s as though it’s following me around, waiting for the opportunity to come out and demonstrate its existence. Just like rainbows.

My conclusion? Rainbows have enlisted various catchy tunes to serve as their minions. The songs receive training from the rainbows. In return, they too stalk people, always there but never observed until the opportune moment. Then they strike.

Next: People sometimes are more annoyed with songs than with rainbows, which just furthers my conclusion.

How does that follow?

Simple. You see, this provides a brilliant contrast for the rainbows.

People might realize that things popping out at them that are just waiting to be discovered are a bad thing, especially when it’s music that’s annoying and gets stuck in your head. Then, just when the poor victims feel that all hope is lost, they realize that there is something else following them that comes unannounced: Rainbows. Since people are predisposed to go “Ooh, shiny!”-

Oh, you admit that?

Yes. Now let me finish my point.

Since people are inclined to go “ooh, sparkly!” they come to the conclusion that there are two types of hidden phenomena: Music (which is creepy), and rainbows (which are the protectors of human kind.) Little do they know that actually music is just the rainbow’s minion, designed to put rainbows in a better light.

So to speak.

What?

Oh, I did make a pun there, didn’t I?

Also, I theorize that rainbows also use music to slowly drive everyone insane so that they can eventually take over the world more easily. But the primary purpose is for publicity and HR.

…Ah. I see.

So as I said, Fluffsters, we have a problem. Your task is to figure out what music you think is working for the Rainbows. Maybe, together, we can solve this problem ONCE AND FOR ALL!

Anywho, happy Thursday!
