So, I recently found another new Favorite Twitter Account. This time it’s… a Police Twitter. For Lawrence, Kansas. Where I don’t live.

But I’m following anyway, because it’s just that good..

Seriously.

And they will sometimes get (and respond to) funny tweets.

And they have advice for people.

And yes, they are official. Twitter says so.

Last night, a friend and I had a bit of fun totally procrastinating and doing something crazy-random. We looked up how you can buy those crazy random oversized scissors for opening ceremonies!

And, lo-and-behold… The various websites to purchase them exist.

One even boasts the LARGEST ceremonial scissors in the WORLD!

Quick quiz for you! If you are really tired, you know you got to your current location at 7:00am, and it is now 2:00pm, how do you calculate how long you’ve been at this location?

a) Remember that 7+5=12+2= 7 hours?
b) Realize that 12+2=14-7= 7 hours? or
c) Remember that 9-3 is six hours, so 9-(3-1=2)=5 hours, and 9-2=7:00am, and therefore 5 hours + 2 hours = 7 hours?

If you answered “c”… you’re tired.

So. As you’re probably aware, one of the common greetings is “What’s Up?”

I usually respond with some variation of “The Sky”, “The ceiling”, or (if we’re not on the top story of the building) “The Floor.”

At that point, people usually either sigh and roll their eyes, groan, or try to be snarky back with, “You could also say the sky, the moon, the stars…”

It occurs to me, though, that you might not actually be able to reply “the moon”, from a certain point of view. Because, you see, once you get close enough, the moon has its own gravity, and is therefore down.

So, yeah. That just occurred to me. But, it means I’m still fully justified in my usual responses!

Good news! My internet (and power) is (/are) back up at home!

Less good news: Google results have gone wonky on me. ALL the results have the silly individual box-thing around them usually associated with the ads and stuff.

I decline to state whether or not the power outage and new Google results are related.
