Confusing Answers to “What’s Up?”

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hi!

So. As you’re probably aware, one of the common greetings is “What’s Up?”

I usually respond with some variation of “The Sky”, “The ceiling”, or (if we’re not on the top story of the building) “The Floor.”

At that point, people usually either sigh and roll their eyes, groan, or try to be snarky back with, “You could also say the sky, the moon, the stars…”

It occurs to me, though, that you might not actually be able to reply “the moon”, from a certain point of view. Because, you see, once you get close enough, the moon has its own gravity, and is therefore down.

So, yeah. That just occurred to me. But, it means I’m still fully justified in my usual responses!

Anyway. Have a great day!

A Sky High Graduate Successfully works!

Hello!

So. I was recently rewatching “Sky High“. (It’s a fun, totally cheesy Disney Superhero movie.)

One of the main characters, Layla, is a “hero support” student.

It also turns out that the same person is a hero-supporter (Caitlin Snow) in “The Flash“.

So, Sky High worked! It just may have taken a hop to an alternate universe for that particular person.

Anyway. Have a lovely day!

Fun Disney Impressions with Disney Characters

Hi!

So, there’s apparently a YouTuber who does really good voice impressions. Anyway, he went to Disneyland at one point, and did the voice impressions around various characters, and the results are fun.

Enjoy, and have a lovely Saturday!

Google is being weird and I don’t like it.

Hi!

Good news! My internet (and power) is (/are) back up at home!

Less good news: Google results have gone wonky on me. ALL the results have the silly individual box-thing around them usually associated with the ads and stuff.

Boxy Google. WHY?!?!

ALL the boxes. Boo.

I decline to state whether or not the power outage and new Google results are related.

Happy Friday.

Power outages are annoying

Hi.

There is a power-outage where I live. Tat might not be so bad in and of itself, since I do have a laptop, but no electricity also means no internet.

And yet, here you are…

I was getting to that!

So, yeah. Because I don’t have power, and therefore also don’t have access to internet at home, I’m needing to write this at a more public, less comfortable place than I like.

So, yeah. Power outages. They’re annoying.

I hope you have a good day.

FUN story(ish) luck(ish) knitting project!

Hi!

So. Somebody on Facebook shared a link to a fun social crafting idea. It’s a “Knit Your Own Adventure” thing.

It looks like it combines RPG-ness with knitting. And I’m not really describing it well. But you should check out the article on it. It looks cool!

Anyway. Happy Tuesday!

Exhaustified brains are confusifying

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hi.

As you may recall, I had a very time-constrained thing recently, and so ended up pre-writing some number of fluff-posts.

I’m now writing this post on an exhaustified brain, (well before it’s being posted) after having finished The Thing, and before getting enough sleep. And I have to say, even though I’ve dealt with my brain being too tired before, it’s still kindof amusing and very unexpected what it’s up for doing.

Especially when considering what it’s not willing to try.

So first, some things I’m too tired to do:

a) watch silly, mindless TV. The very idea of watching anything completely mindless makes my brain curl up into a ball and scream “NO!!!!” at the top of its lungs. (Fortunately, it doesn’t have any of its own, and it hasn’t commandeered mine to yell… yet.) So, yeah. No mindless TV shows. This includes cartoons, “family feud” or “Jeopardy” type shows, and so on.

2) Get involved in a good story. So, no reading a good book, Doctor Who, etc.

last) Go to bed. I should. But I also kinda really want to decompress. You know.

Now, here are some things that my brain does want to do.

1) Watch YouTube-available college lectures on creative writing.

1b) Watch video analyses on YouTube about film-making.

So basically, my brain is too tired to let me go to bed or enjoy something mindless. But it does want to do something educational.

I’m so confused.

Anyway. Happy Friday!

The sad thing about good food is that it goes away.

Hi!

So, I’m a bit sad right now… because I had a really, really good soup.

And now I don’t have it anymore.

Technically, I could heat up more, but this way I got a fluff post out of it.

Anyway. Have you found that happens to you? You simultaneously really like a food, and get a bit sad eating it because it’s going away… forever?

Yeah. So. Anyway. Happy Thursday!

I’d forgotten how QUIET it can be after a rainstorm!

Hi!

I’m writing this a bit before it’ll be posted. (What can I say? I’m on a roll!)

Anyway. Recently, it’s been raining hard. A lot. And it just stopped. (At least, it sounds like it may have. It’s comin’ down a lot less hard, at the very minimum. I’m writing with my windows closed and at night, so I can’t really see outside very well to confirm, either.)

And I’d forgotten how quiet it is without rain in the background!

In fact, my typing sounds really loud by comparison. This is slightly different than it has been recently.

On the bright side, it’s supposed to pick up again soon. So, that’ll be nice for me! (I like soothing ambient noise!)

Have a great Wednesday!

The Caffeine System

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hello!

I’m prewriting this post a couple days in advance, actually, due to stuff coming up. I will probably not get very much sleep during that time.

First, a tiny bit of relevant background. I’m going to have a strict timeframe (48 hours, starting at noon one of the days) to do a thing that will involve minimal sleep. Because I have this specific timeframe, I’m able to try to prep for it.

So, I thought I’d share my caffeination prep I’m using!

(As a second note, I’m usually at a higher-than-necessarily-recommended level of coffeenation. Yes, I spelled that intentionally.)

For the better part of the week leading up to the thing, I worked on getting myself (relatively) off caffeine. So, a couple days of no more than half-caff, or usually decaf.

Then, no more caffeine than available in a cup of green tea, and herbal tea for the rest of the time.

In addition to helping me get off caffeine, this allowed me to catch up on sleep a bit.

4 and 3 days before The Thing, I added a normal cup of coffee back into the mix. You see, I don’t want to be completely off caffeine before starting. That can lead to unanticipated jitteriness, and hypercaffeination by mistake, which would cause problems.

2 and 1 days before The Thing, I was back to the half-caff / decaf route. (Less than the equivalent of one of my usual size cups of coffee, though.)

This enabled me to get sleep. At least, theoretically. I had a couple issues between night 2 and 1, but that was probably at least in part due to being on YouTube. That’s a very distracting rabbit hole! So really, the system can’t be blamed.

And now (well, as you’re reading this, not as I’m writing this) I’m doing The Thing. Since it’s worked previously, I’m guessing it will work now to help keep me awake.

I hope that helps, next time you have 48 hours where it’s nice to not need to sleep!

have a lovely Tuesday!
