Hiya, Fluffsters!
I figured I’d jump on board with Fluffy’s series of “less common seasonal songs” with one I shared last year. It’s the “Christmas Donkey” song. Hence the title of “Christmas Donkey Edition”.

Greetings, readers!
I am continuing the series on “Less Common Songs for the Season.” Today’s is another non-English song: Noel Nouvelet. I discovered this one last year, actually, and it has become one of my favorite less common seasonal songs to listen to nearly repeatedly.
There are two versions I am sharing today; they each have their own, separate feel.
The first is slightly slower, more mysterious, and beautifully haunting:

Greetings, readers.
I know it is normally bad form to interrupt a series after only a single day of it. However, this is absolutely worth it. Trust me.
A favorite music group of mine (Two Steps from Hell) released a Christmas Medley recently. (About two weeks ago, to be precise.) Thus, it is worth sharing.
It is made of more common songs. However, it is one of the best Christmas Medleys I have ever heard. (Possibly in part because they do not include “Silent Night.”)
I especially appreciate what they did with “O Holy Night.”

Greetings, readers!
Now it is in the Christmas Season. Therefore, music recommendations are permissible.
To start off with, there is a beautiful King’s Singers version of Gaudete. What may make it even better for you is that it is not in English. Thus, for those of you who cannot work while English-lyric pieces are playing, you can still play this in the background.

Hiya, Fluffsters!
So, apparently there was some sort of music award yesterday or something. I’m not sure what the occasion was. But, The Pentatonix (a fairly famous singing-group) ended up being featured for a Star Wars Tribute piece. And it was well done!

Hiya, Fluffsters!
So, this is what I’m listening to while writing this. I love this piece. I’m fairly sure it’s been shared before on this blog, but it’s always worth re-listening to. So, enjoy! And have a lovely weekend.

Hiya, Fluffsters!
So, I’ve been needing to walk places early in the morning. Yesterday, I remembered about a newish favorite I discovered a couple years ago. It’s from the Tolkien Ensemble. And it’s a delightful walking song.

Hiya, Fluffsters!
So, I know this is a tiny bit either early or late for starting a Halloweenseries. But I was just chatting with a friend, and some music came up, and I remembered it’s absolutely perfect for Halloween.
It’s based off of the original Dies Irae Plainchant Theme.
(The video below is a bit long. You don’t need to hear all of it to get a feel for it.)
So, the words are basically “Day of Judgement, Day of Wrath” in Latin. That right there makes it a haunting refrain. And then a lot of people use it in their music.
Another is Rachmoninoff’s Variation on a Theme by Paginini. This one also doesn’t bring in the Dies Irae theme until a few minutes in. I’ve theoretically copied the YouTube time for where it actually starts. (You should listen to the entire piece, though, since it’s gorgeous. And haunting. So, yeah.)
So, yup. Here’s approximately the next location in the piece where the theme comes up. Seriously. It’s a recurring theme. I love it.
I may include more music for Halloween as it becomes relevant. But this will do for right now. And besides, I’ve got the looming terror of the 1,000th post coming up… I’m definitely going to be haunted by how little I do for it…
So, happy 997th post, and happy 9 days until Halloween! And Happy Thursday. Just to give you too many cheerful greetings and all. Because those can be scary. So, yeah. Have a great day.
