Responses to Annoyances

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hello, Fluffsters!

Have you ever been annoyed? Or how about… annoyed when paper & pencil are readily convenient? I think I more or less qualified last night. Okay, so I’m not entirely sure if annoyed or some other adjective is best for describing me last night. But regardless, here’s an image representation of some of my favorite responses for responding to annoyances.

stick figures illustrating responses to annoyances

Yes, that’s on paper I could have used to take notes…

The responses are as follows:

1) Facepalm. This is always useful. If anyone asks, you can either tell the truth, or indicate that you’re just tired, and resting your head in your hand. Not that I condone dishonesty per say. But yeah.

2) Bang Head Here. This, alas, cannot be done as easily in a group of people, as it attracts attention. (It sometimes is a great way of venting, though!)

3) Flail. The others are basically variations of flailing wildly. Like the Bang Head Here, this is not always the least obvious response, so use it wisely.

4) Illustrate each of the responses that you want to do. That’s not illustrated above, except insofar as it’s an illustration of responses that I want to do. Or something like that. The illustrating part is really useful, since you can then pretend that you’re the one doing it, and therefore not actually need to do it in real life.

Yeah.

So, what are your responses to annoyances?

Things You Wish You Did Instead Of The Super Bowl

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hello, Fluffsters! Happy Monday!

Well, I’m not sure about you, but I had a fantastic time last night.

In answer to the unspoken question (for this is, after all, a blog) no, I did not watch the Super Bowl. And from what I’ve heard, it seems as though you might wish you hadn’t either. I’ve heard it described to me as though “if both of the teams had shown up to play, it would have been a better game.”

…Huh?

Oh. That was a bit confusing, wasn’t it?

Basically, I’ve heard it said that one of the teams played so badly, it was as though they never fully showed up to play the game.

Oh.

Yes. So, in honor of the game probably leaving you wishing to have done something else, I’m going to share with you some things that you might have actually enjoyed doing. Some of these might even have been things I did. You know, just to make you jealous. 🙂

…Did you seriously just use a “Smiley”?

Yes. Yes I did.

What can I say? It fit. But that’s a change of topic. Again. Ok, no more delays!

Things you wish you’d done instead of watching the “Super” Bowl

A) Take a nice, long, relaxing shower. Of course, that only takes up part of the time of the super bowl, in all probability, so you’ll want to combine this with other items from the list.

If you don’t need to combine this with other activities, even I’m a bit concerned for you…

2) Have a nice long dinner / lunch / meal with friends / family. As with the previous one, this might not take you the full time, and should probably be combined with other activities. Maybe you could take a long shower, and then have a nice meal with friends or family?

Ooh, I’ve got a better one:

3) Prove that if 1 > 0, then if x > 1, and n is a positive integer x^(1/n) > 1, Assuming that laws of exponents work. Also, you might want to prove that 1^(1/n) = 1, for any positive integer 1.

…Uh… I don’t know if I even know what that means.

Fine.

3b) Try to figure out what 3 even means.

Are you happy now?

Uh, not necessarily about that.

Speaking of “happy”, though,

5) Polka through the halls. There are few things quite so cheerful as a nice polka! And it’s certainly got to be more fun that the “super” bowl supposedly was.

5) Discuss whether or not you even exist. Or if you’re just the figment of your imaginary friend’s imagination.

Extra kudos to you if you answer that one without using the “Cogito Ergo Sum” argument. Even more “points” if you solve that answer and present it in mathematical form.

So… Lots of mathsy stuffs from you. Have you been studying Math recently or something?

I needed some way to keep myself entertained…

So you decided to work on learning math. Of course.

Z) Watch the final episode of Sherlock, Season 3 as it came out in the United States. And, possibly, prep for it ahead of time by re-watching all the other episodes.

(If you didn’t end up re-watching all the prior episodes, you could also combine this with any of the other points on this list.)

9) Play Bananagrams. This could easily take you the entire game time!

Last) Research Kant’s perspective on virtue and ethics, and its impact on the world. Maybe also write an essay on the subject. After all, football always seems to take an impossibly long time- you might be able to write an essay in the time it takes for the first quarter!

So, Fluffsters, feeling regretful yet? And any bets on which ones I actually did last night?

And don’t forget, if you’re trying to procrastinate, this list (mostly) works for that, too! I hope you enjoy trying (some of) these suggestions!

First Scene of a Story

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hello, Fluffsters!

I hope you’re having a marvelous weekend.

As further boredom prevention for you, and because I don’t really want to write a traditional post right now, I’m uploading the first part of a story I’m in the process of writing.

Heads’ up, I haven’t finished this yet. This means that this work is subject to change, being taken down, etc., without prior notice. And stuff.

Wow. Until the last “and stuff”, that sounded almost important.

Well, I try.

And without further ado, here’s the first scene from The Lost Prince of Hadenelle, by yours truly. (Working title and whatnot.) If you have any constructive / positive feedback, I’d love to see it in the comments! I hope you enjoy, and have a good Saturday.

Weekend Activities: Phantom on YouTube

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hello, Fluffsters! It’s FRIDAY! Do you know what that means?

It’s time for you to ask more annoying rhetorical questions about the meaning of the days of the week?

I was going for “Free time!”, but your answer sortof works too.

However, going off of my original answer, this means that you have the opportunity to be bored.

Or to procrastinate for a while.

(I’d suggest going with the latter.)

One way of not being bored and procrastinating for a while is to spend time on YouTube watching things. One video that I think could be fun, but that I haven’t had time to watch all the way through yet, is a version of Phantom of the Opera. I really like that musical. And the London version is on YouTube. So, check it out! Or not. The choice is yours.

Regardless, happy Friday! I hope your week ends well.

Celebrating one year of daily posts!

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Well, how about that.

…What?

It’s January 28th.

Congratulations. You can read the date.

Yes… It’s exactly a year since I started this blog.

Oh, you mean it has be a year since you started storing your fluff in my space on the web?

Yeah, I guess you could put it that way!

It does not seem like it has been that long.

…Really? You certainly complain about this often enough.

Of course I complain! I am a melodramatic actress, after all! I need to stay in practice!

Also, I only discovered several months ago that there is an infinite number of sub-spaces that you cannot get to on this site, as of yet. Because they exist, when I need my peace, and a place away from contentless fluff, I can disappear.

Oh. So when you disappear, you’re in uncharted portions of the internet?

From your perspective, for much of the time, yes.

It is just as well for you, too. This means I’ve even been able to appreciate having you here.

…Really?

Yes. In fact, I quickly designed this in honor of the one-year occasion:

A birthday cake for totalfluff

Happy Birthday, Total Fluff!

…You even matched the colors of the site?

Well, I was not going to use colors that clashed!

Aww, thank you Fluffy!

Hey, none of the sentimentality now. I have a reputation to maintain.

Right. Of course. Sorry.

Well, happy Tuesday, Fluffsters! I hope you stay warm, and I hope you have an excellent day.

What to Do when you’re Really Excited

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hello, Fluffsters!

Something that people do is they get excited. And when they get excited they do things to try to express the excitement. Here is a list of things to do that I’ve come up with. (I may or may not use any/all of them…)

1) Bounce. This one’s very easy, and has many ranges. For simple bouncing, start with a flat-footed position. Transfer your weight to your toes, and raise your heels. (Basically go up on tip-toe.) Then, return to your flatfooted resting position.

1b) Advanced bouncing. For more advanced forms of bouncing, once you are on your toes, add a small jump in, land back on your toes, and only then return to your flatfooted position.

1c) Trickiest Bouncing. For the most advanced form of bouncing, which I have not yet mastered, increase the jump size, aim your feet towards a wall or a ceiling, and hit said wall or ceiling. You are now bouncing off walls.

Disclaimer: If you try this type of bouncing, be sure to land back on your feet. We at TotalFluff are not held liable for any damage that may come from attempting anything on this site.

2) Hug someone. I’d suggest getting their permission first. Or at least make sure you know the person before you give them a hug. Hugging a random stranger sometimes gets you weird looks…

…Is that the voice of experience speaking?

I’m… not going to answer that one.

3) Do a cartwheel, or other gymnastics. I actually haven’t done this one. But I wish I could- it looks like a great way to express excitement!

4) Talk to a friend. As long as they’ll even somewhat understand why you’re excited. (It’s annoying to talk to people who give you a confused, “okay, dear, whatever you say” look when you’re super excited(!) about something.) The shrieks of excitement are always fantastic.

Yup. That’s about what I can come up with. What about you? Do you do anything when you’re feeling really excited?

Dress Doodling Peeves

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Fluffsters, I have a problem.

Well, actually I have several. Maybe even more than several. (Nobody’s perfect- not even me!) But I’m only going to focus on one right now.

Ok. So, for as long as I’ve been able to hold a pencil (or a crayon, or a marker, or anything) I’ve been doodling dresses. I love dresses.

The big problem, though, is that I can’t get the anatomy for the human figure right. Seriously. It’s as though my fingers refuse to draw a decent, accurate female body shape.

So, this is a problem. If I don’t know if the body shape is at all accurate, I cannot tell if it would be worthwhile to try to figure out how to make my dress ideas come to life. And I don’t want to spend $20 or more on a failure. (I like big, fluffy skirts, too, so it would likely even cost more. A lot more. Just on the fabric. Not including time.)

So I don’t know what to do. Should I try to make prototypes of the dresses anyway? Stick to doodling? Try to work on more accurate human anatomy, even though it’s not nearly as much fun as dress-drawing?

Frozen BUBBLES!!!

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hello, Fluffsters! It’s Thursday!

Last night I had a cool opportunity. Literally. Alright, so it was more like a frigid opportunity.

Some friends and I got to freeze bubbles outside!!

Unfortunately it was a bit dark out, so the pictures didn’t turn out extremely well. But this one shows a bit of the frost pattern forming:

A frozen bubble

Frosted Bubble

This one clearly shows itself to be frozen a bit better, by merit of the fact that it’s, well, broken:

A broken frozen bubble

IT BROKE!!!

Isn’t that cool? (So to speak?)

Anywho. Happy Thursday! It’s almost the weekend!

Fun with Clay

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hello, Fluffsters! Happy Wednesday!

Yesterday, I started something fairly new. I’m taking a ceramics class! So, that’s really fun. It also means that I’ll likely have a fair bit of content for this site because of that decision.

(After all, I expect much of my work to be fluff.)

So yesterday’s class was really fun. One of the activities the professor had us do was she gave us a word, and we were given a minute to pinch a ball of clay into something that symblified the words she gave us.

Here’s what I had:

Three clay figures symblifying anger, melodious, and strength

Three figures. Can you guess what the words were?

The words were anger, melodious, and strength.

The anger one should be fairly obvious. I might have added more, but I thought the simple was just as effective (and had more of a guarantee of working) as anything else I would have made.

Melodious is the one in the back. It’s supposed to symblify a flowing sound wave.

Strength was supposed to be a sanctuary, but it didn’t work out, especially in the time I had. So I went with my original idea: A cube. Cubes are some of the most solid, strong shapes. It’s hard to make a cube lose its balance, no matter which side it’s placed on. It’s, well, strong.

I’m fairly happy with how they turned out!

So, fluffsters, are there any fun things you’re learning in the new year?

Goodbye, Great Pumpkin.

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Fluffsters, today is a sad day. I regret to report the death of the Great Pumpkin. Last night, the place I was eating apparently decided, well, I can’t write it right now. Here is the photographic evidence of the unfairness done to Linus:

A sign advertising Great Pumpkin dessert.

Great Pumpkin dessert. RIP, Great Pumpkin.

As you can see, clearly the Great Pumpkin was turned into a… dessert.

It wasn’t even pumpkin pie.

Wait. How do you know it was not dessert for the Great Pumpkin? Or Great dessert that was pumpkin?

Well, it clearly couldn’t have been dessert for the Great Pumpkin for two reasons. A) it was obviously pumpkin mush, and the Great Pumpkin isn’t a cannibal. 2) The Great Pumpkin only flies on Halloween, so it’s ridiculous to think he’d show up on January 20th.

And it couldn’t have been a great dessert that was pumpkin. Trust me, you’d need to have seen it to fully understand, but there’s no way the dessert could have been great.

So all said and done, let’s have a moment of silence for the Great Pumpkin.

Thank you. I hope you have a happy Tuesday, despite this hardship.
